The tourist also brought beer from home, which he sips in the caravan at night while watching a dubbed American soap opera from a DVD he packed.

Mornings, the tourist lounges under the awning, reading a newspaper from home bought at the campsite kiosk. He eats long-lasting plastic bread and canned food, washing it down with instant coffee and powdered milk—all brought from home, along with frozen lunches and dinners. In the afternoon, he takes a family bike ride on the bicycles they hauled along.

A TOURIST spends two gruelling days in endless traffic jams on European highways, towing a twelve-meter caravan behind his Mercedes, only to park at a campsite that costs just two percent less than a budget hotel. He hooks up the caravan to electricity, gas, and water, sets up an awning above it, and surrounds it with a plastic fence - guaranteeing zero visibility.

Before every attraction, the TOURIST  runs into a souvenir stand, hauling home thirty pieces of kitschy junk. A week later, he won’t remember if they’re from his last trip to Dalmatia or the one before that to Tunisia. That won’t stop him from torturing guests with a four-hour slideshow of overexposed, blurry photos featuring nothing but himself, his wife, and his kids.
